One year down!

Holly and I got engaged one year ago today! When we decided to push out the wedding date, I thought I would seriously go insane if I had to wait longer than a year. But now that we’re down to TEN MONTHS to the big day I keep thinking, oh man how am I going to get all this shiz done?

Whenever I get overwhelmed, I like making a list of what’s done and what’s next to do:

Done:

  • Chose our gang of Bridal Henchmen
  • Venue
  • Photographer
  • Booked our DJ
  • Started the process of booking our Honeymoon lodging
  • In talks with caterer
  • Bought a dress (uh, maybe)
  • Have pretty much the final draft of our guest list
  • Have contact info for 90% of our guest list
  • Scheduled engagement photos
  • Drafted ceremony script
  • Decided on general decor scheme/theme

To Do (for now):

  • Talk with our officiant about ceremony
  • Book honeymoon lodging and flights
  • Book wedding night lodging
  • Shop for Holly’s wedding clothes
  • Make shopping/look out for list for DIY projects
  • Design invitations

I guess that’s not so bad (see why I like making lists!)

Holly’s Proposal

Read about the actual proposal (which did not end up including the full speech) here.

Holly's Proposal Speech

“I just want to say how much I love Sarah. She is the most incredible woman I’ve ever met. She is honest, loyal, she makes me laugh every day. I’ve never felt as much love from one person as I do from Sarah. She is my heartbeat and I don’t want to spend a single day without her for the rest of my life.

She is so giving and caring, she has a bigger heart than I do, so you know it must be pretty big! She makes me strive to be a better person every day. I respect Sarah just as much, if not more, than myself. She is the  most intelligent person I’ve ever had a conversation with. She makes me so proud to be her girlfriend, what would make me even more proud, would be to be her wife. That being said, when you know you know, Sarah Elizabeth Brewer, Will you marry me?”

(She said yes)
